Ruth’s second husband, remembered in Dolf’s wedding song through courtship, family humor and a shared departure for the United States.
Albert married Ruth Reichenbach in Halberstadt on 3 August 1933. Dolf dedicated the printed wedding song to his ‘dear siblings Ruth and Albert,’ language that places Albert inside the family circle at the moment of marriage.
The song recalls Albert encountering Ruth again in Schierke during the preceding winter and seeking a private conversation around New Year in the hotel reading room. It then brings him to Halberstadt as a visitor and jokes about his courtship, his driving and Dolf being told not to reveal his arrival.
A later verse praises Albert’s relationship with both parents. It names his father as Max Rothschild, remembered as an enthusiastic fisherman, while his mother is warmly described but not named.
Albert and Ruth signed the family’s December 1935 mourning card after Paul’s death. Family testimony places them in the United States before Dolf and Margarete escaped Germany.
