Margarete Reichenbach’s mother, documented in 1887 as the only daughter of L. Schottländer and his wife née Salzmann of Hettstedt.
At Pentecost 1887, a printed family announcement issued at Hettstedt recorded Jenny Schottländer’s engagement to Philipp Liebenthal, a merchant of Halle. The announcement names her as the only daughter of L. Schottländer and his wife née Salzmann.
Jenny and Philipp later became the parents of Margarete Liebenthal, who married Paul Reichenbach in 1908. Through Margarete they were the maternal grandparents of Ruth and Dolf Reichenbach.
The family identifies Jenny as the woman beside Philipp in the double portrait. The 1887 engagement announcement independently records their names, relationship and places.
